I think this cake was okay of you like cream cakes and if you aren't actually wanting black forest flavours. I found it to taste more of cream than of cherry or chocolate. Don't know how they can call it black forest it hardly had any cherries in it, the Tesco freezer black forest gateaux are better than this! (Okay I'm not 100% sure because I haven't had one in YEARS but I definitely remember it being chocolatey and with lots of cherry flavour!). Luckily I had some cherries in kirsch in the fridge, and pouring some kirsch over the sponge, adding some cherries and removing some of the cream filling/topping made this something I enjoyed. I don't think you're supposed to do that much to a professionally made cake tbh. To be totally fair to them, my boyfriend did enjoy the cake and it does look pretty (kicking myself I didn't have a picture of the whole thing!)
