KING ARTHUR BAKING COMPANY’S FLAKY PUFF CRUST PIZZA
Soots Cook Nook, Private
I’d been wanting to try this ever since King Arthur Baking Co. unveiled their 2026 Recipe of the Year, but a truly unholy mix of procrastination and malaise kept me on the sidelines. Pizza Pie Day was the kick in the butt I needed—and I’m glad it was—because not only did I discover a flakier style of pizza crust, it also led me to “JOY food SUNSHINE’S” seriously flavorful pizza sauce.
That said, I do have a couple of beefs: this recipe is pretty high-maintenance, and after all the attention it demanded, the crust wasn’t nearly as crispy as I’d hoped. Next time, I might try baking it on my darker, round pizza pan instead of the silver aluminized steel half-sheet I used today… which immediately raises the question of how I’d adapt the dough to a round pan. 🤔
Am I really about to justify buying yet another pan? 😑
Nah. Me thinks I’ll try hauling an 18 × 13″ laminated dough sheet onto a ripping-hot steel next time instead. 🤨😳
